BCCI has postponed the IPL 2020
BCCI has just announced (13th March) that the 13th edition of the richest T20 league has been postponed form the scheduled date of 29th March to 15th April as a precautionary measure against the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Furthermore, all the foreign visas were banned by the Government of India till 15th April so the overseas players were already in doubt for the participation in this year's IPL.
The IPL 2020 was scheduled to start on 29th March, 2020 in Mumbai between the
defending champions Mumbai Indians and last year finalists Chennai Super
Kings.
It's all happening due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) which has been declared pandemic by the World Health Organization and also a medical emergency and was started in December 2019 in Wuhan, China.
Also, the ongoing ODI series between India and South Africa will be played in empty stadiums.
the 1st ODI in Dharamsala had been washed out and now the 2nd and 3rd ODIs will be played in Lucknow and Kolkata respectively and BCCI has announced that the Lucknow ODI and Kolkata ODI will be played in empty stadiums due the threat of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
Delhi Government has ban all the social gatherings from happening at all (including IPL)
on 13th March. The Deputy Chief Minister addressed the media on 13th March regarding the same.
